The Magpies finished in fourth place last season just above Liverpool, four points ahead, but you have to go back more than seven years and 14 matches for their last top-flight win over the Reds, a 2-0 home victory in December 2015.
Elsewhere, the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City travel to newly promoted Sheffield United, while Vincent Kompany’s Burnley host Aston Villa.
